Call for Advanced Seminars
In the last five years, the data management area has seen a revolution affected by the rapid
development in Big Data technologies. Advances in NoSQL data store technologies, coupled with
high performance computational facilities, powered by cloud computing and very large parallel data
processing adopting the MapReduce framework, have greatly enhanced the efficiency of our data
management systems. Mobile data management is no exception. There are advances in this area
that exploit efficiency of high performance computational facilities in the cloud. There have been
also recent developments brining NoSQL data stores to the mobile environment. We are witnessing
an exciting time at which mobile users are able to perform complex computational tasks on the
move.
In IEEE MDM 2014, we seek proposals for advanced seminars that bring the opportunity to share
latest advances in the area of mobile data management in the era of Big Data. Proposals should be
submitted to both co-chairs at m.gaber1@rgu.ac.uk and rui.zhang@unimelb.edu.au with the subject
line of the email: “MDM’14 Advanced Seminar Proposal”.
Proposals should include:
- Title of the advanced seminar, clearly reflecting its contents
- Extended abstract of no longer than 4 pages, detailing the topics covered
in the seminar
- Names, affiliations and short biographies of the seminar lectures
- Duration of the seminar: (2 hours) or (3 hours)
- Any special requirements needed for the presentation of the seminar
